My grand daughter who is two, broke the outside glass on our six month old GE microwave. It didn't break through to the inside glass, or effect the operation of the microwave.
Is it still save to use?
A: If it broke the thin perforated metal "net" that is usually fused to the glass, then no, it is not safe, microwave energy will escape through the hole and cook whatever is in front of the door
