My son wants a nintendo wii for christmas but I've heard good and bad things about this console. I dont know much about it but can someone please list the Pro and Cons about this console please. Thank you.
Pros - family console that can be used by anyone from age 5 to 95; games are easy to play for the most part; gets you up off of the couch; if you have an Internet connection and are willing to spend a little money (under $20.00), you can download and play original Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis and Nintendo 64 games, etc.; you can also play Gamecube games, but need a Gamecube controller
Cons - if your a couch potato, you don't want a Wii; for hard core gamers, games will seem childish (Manhunt II and Resident Evil 4 are the only "hardcore games" for the Wii). If into war games like Halo, Call of Duty, this is not the system for you.
The really popular Nintendo characters such as Mario, Zelda, Link, Metroid, etc. can be played on this system.
can the Wii console system US version be able to play in Southeast Asia countries?
I am planning to buy my daughter a Wii console as a gift. I am based in the US but my daughter is based in the Philippines. Will my daughter be able to use the Wii console US version in the Philippines? Thanks.
You could use it there but the Philippines is 220V, so you would have to either get a 110 converter or you can go on line and buy a universal AC adapter that accepts 100-240V (I had to buy one in Iraq after someone I let borrow my Wii plugged it into a 220 socket without a converter). The AC adapter only cost me $5 but in certain shopping centers over there (like Walter Mart) they sell cheap converters.
The Internet connection is another thing, I'm not sure if a foreign IP will force the console to register itself for the Philippines (you probably want to call Nintendo at 800-255-3700 to confirm) and for on line play it might have a lot of lag because of the distance from the US. Also, you would have to mail her new games from the US since they don't sell American games locally and if it gets modded it will probably brick with the next system update.
What is the point of wii online and console numbers?
I have searched for info comcerning online multiplayer games for Wii but I see that there is like 1.
So what is the point? What can one wii console do with another? What's this mingles stuff? Is it random mingling?

you have to buy a wii points card. then go to the wii shop channel and redeem it. After that you have to download the internet channel. and your ready to go.

The yellow light just means you have activated the Wii 24 connection which leaves it connected to the internet while it is "off". This allows you to recieve messages during "downtime". If you want the red light then deactivate your Wii 24 connectivity option. The Wii remotes will turn the console off when you press and hold the power button on the remotes for a second or two. Then the remotes will automatically power down when not in use after a few minutes.
There is nothing wrong when the yellow light is on. It just means your Wii can recieve messages from the internet while it is off.
